In this original painting, a woman and her dog are visiting the sea, enjoying the sand and surf on a sunny day. Etched into the surface of the painting, to the woman's flowing skirt is the opening line of an Emily Dickinson poem. It's nearly illegible, but it reads "I started Early, took my Dog, and visited the sea." The full poem is a delight, but I'll leave that for another painting.

Medium: Cold wax and oil on wood panel

MY ARTIST STATEMENT—Painting is a daily ritual for me, as I continue to discover ways to express myself through art. My goal is to create artwork that represents how I see the world around me—or how I hope it could be, a place where mercy, benevolence, and peace are commonplace and can be found around any corner, under any tree, or beside any stream. At the same time, I desire to create meaningful work that others forge a deep connection to and bring into their own home as a unique expression of who they are.
