This one-of-a-kind handmade poetry book combines abstract landscape paintings with Gerard Manley Hopkins's poem "Heaven-Haven." Six original paintings done in cold wax and oil on archival paper complement the lines from the poem, with vellum paper and scraps of art craft paper embellishing the little pages.
The pages are hand-stitched together with cotton thread and grommets strung with vintage baubles. The pages are bound together with a gold spiral binding between vintage book boards. The unique piece makes a lovely gift for any poetry lover and anyone needing a little extra magic in their day.
The book measures 5" x 2.5"
The poem, which is printed on hand-painted archival paper, reads as follows:
I have desired to go
Where springs not fail,
To fields where flies no sharp and sided hail
And a few lilies blow.
And I have asked to be
Where no storms come,
Where the green swell is in the havens dumb,
And out of the swing of the sea.

MY ARTIST STATEMENT—Painting is a daily ritual for me, as I continue to discover ways to express myself through art. My goal is to create artwork that represents how I see the world around me—or how I hope it could be, a place where mercy, benevolence, and peace are commonplace and can be found around any corner, under any tree, or beside any stream. At the same time, I desire to create meaningful work that others forge a deep connection to and bring into their own home as a unique expression of who they are.
