This found-object assemblage is a unique combination of objects and original art, with a small painting of flowers in a vase as the centerpiece, so to speak. Below the painting is a collection of objects to highlight the quote at the center, an ancient proverb reading "A book is like a garden carried in the pocket."
In the assemblage, you'll find two antique dipping quills together with an antique pair of reading glasses. These treasures are surrounded by book bundles created from a 1907 publication, along with birch bark, a small feather, a vintage key, dried moss, and hardware from a well-used hinge. The cover of a 1907 book is the backdrop, and it is graced by a vintage bauble.
The assemblage is set within an antique sewing machine drawer. It measures 4.75" wide by 14" high x 3.75" deep, and it is designed to be displayed on a bookshelf or table with your other treasures, or displayed on a wall (fitted with wire for hanging).

MY ARTIST STATEMENT—Painting is a daily ritual for me, as I continue to discover ways to express myself through art. My goal is to create artwork that represents how I see the world around me—or how I hope it could be, a place where mercy, benevolence, and peace are commonplace and can be found around any corner, under any tree, or beside any stream. At the same time, I desire to create meaningful work that others forge a deep connection to and bring into their own home as a unique expression of who they are.
