This found-object assemblage is a tribute to the love of books and of reading, packed full of books with a Jane Austen quote as the backdrop.

Set within a vintage rough-hewn wooden box is a scene all about books—each small volume is created from publications from the early 1900s bound in leather, piled and stacked beside a small wooden chair. The back wall is text from "Pride and Prejudice," from the scene in chapter 11 when Miss Bingley is exasperated by the inattention of Mr. Darcy and states, "How pleasant it is to spend an evening in this way! I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of anything than of a book! When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.” The sentence "I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading!" is in bolder type and more visible when the light is turned on.

Yes, the assemblage is lit up by a string of tiny lights (2 CR2032 batteries included). The switch and battery compartment are stored in a leather pouch on the back of the assemblage for easy battery replacement.

The assemblage measures 8.5" x 6.25" x 4.5", and it is designed to be displayed on a bookshelf or table with your other treasures.
