This found-object assemblage is a tribute to the love of reading, with an excerpt from Emily Dickinson in its design. Set within a solid wood cigar box, there is a collection of treasures—antique doorknob hardware that frames a tiny photo of a ship, an antique stereoscope photograph of a sailing ship, a skeleton key, an antique leather buckle, and well-worn rope to "tie it all together." Beneath the photograph are small book bundles made from the pages of a 1903 publication.
The excerpt from Emily Dickinson is centered in the main compartment and reads:
There is no frigate link a book
to take us lands away
The assemblage measures 8" x 9.5" when fully opened (including the vintage drawer pull) and 3" when fully closed, and it is designed to be displayed on a bookshelf or table with your other treasures.

MY ARTIST STATEMENT—Painting is a daily ritual for me, as I continue to discover ways to express myself through art. My goal is to create artwork that represents how I see the world around me—or how I hope it could be, a place where mercy, benevolence, and peace are commonplace and can be found around any corner, under any tree, or beside any stream. At the same time, I desire to create meaningful work that others forge a deep connection to and bring into their own home as a unique expression of who they are.
