This found-object assemblage is designed for book lovers and lovers of all things vintage. Set within an antique sewing machine drawer, two compartments hold small books made from a vintage English literature textbook stacked together with a tiny chair for comfortable hours of reading and antique reading glasses. In the background are two sketches by Leonardo da Vinci and an antique quill. From the side of the drawer top hangs an antique key on a vintage chain, the key representing the value of books and reading.
Along the top of the assemblage are the opening lines of an Emily Dickinson poem—"There is no frigate like a book to take us lands away."
The assemblage measures 4" x 15.25" and is 4" deep. It is designed to be displayed on a bookshelf or table with your other treasures, or display on a wall (fitted with wire for hanging).

MY ARTIST STATEMENT—Painting is a daily ritual for me, as I continue to discover ways to express myself through art. My goal is to create artwork that represents how I see the world around me—or how I hope it could be, a place where mercy, benevolence, and peace are commonplace and can be found around any corner, under any tree, or beside any stream. At the same time, I desire to create meaningful work that others forge a deep connection to and bring into their own home as a unique expression of who they are.
